On Sunday, 11/19/06 and just prior to the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Detroit Free Press published an article about Fordson grad Wendy Popko by Erin Chan. Wendy, the illustrator of "Has Anyone Seen Christmas?" by author Anne Margaret Lewis, was elated to have the characters she illustrated featured on a new parade float. When questioned about her reactions to seeing her characters become three-dimensional, Wendy said: "It's unbelievable. For a while, it was hard for me to grasp what was happening. To see characters literally jumping out of a book I illustrated and they're going to be coming down in the parade!...It's exceeded what I could have ever imagined. You know how like you're in a dream, and you haven't woken up yet? I'm still in a big dream." Wendy's story was featured in an earlier issue of the Alumnus.
